About the Speaker:
Prof. Stefan H. E. Kaufmann’s research interests include vaccines against tuberculosis, development of novel vaccination strategies, the role of cytokines, antigen presentation and T-cell populations in immunity against intracellular bacteria. He is a founding director of the Max Planck Institute for Infection
Biology (Germany), Director of its Department of Immunology and Professor for Microbiology and Immunology at Charité University Clinics, Berlin. He is also former president of the German Society for Immunology, of the European Federation of Immunological Societies, and of the International Union of Immunological Societies. Prof. Kaufmann is the recipient of numerous scientific awards and has authored over 700 publications.
