TRUNCATE-TB is a ground-breaking investigator-initiated multi-centre clinical trial in 6-8 Asian countries looking at the effectiveness of two-month treatment strategies for drug-sensitive tuberculosis, funded by UK MRC/Wellcome Trust and Singapore NMRC. The trial includes treatment arms with novel combinations of established and new drugs that are currently in Phase 3 trials. Preparatory work commenced in July 2014 with the aim of completing the trial in 2018.

We are offering a part-time position (up to 30% FTE involvement) for a pharmacist with a background in drug procurement for assisting in the logistical management of the investigational drugs in TRUNCATE-TB. The position will be based in Singapore and would involve working with a large team including clinicians, statisticians, microbiologists, and trial management staff located in Singapore, multiple Asian countries and UK.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with pharmaceutical companies to source the trial medications through purchasing or donations (trial initiation phase)
  
• Advise on applicable ethical and legal requirements, including national import and export regulations, and assist with regulatory discussions  
  
• Oversee labelling, packaging and distribution of drug supply, under the remit of Good Distribution Practice 
• Advise on appropriate dosing intervals and schedules  
• Prepare summary documents with expected side effect profiles, drug interactions and advice on management/avoidance.  
• Contribute to pharmacy guideline in manual of operations and review individual site pharmacy plans
  
• Review pharmacy sections of site monitoring reports 
  
• Review monthly stock reports from sites and determine shipping timelines
  
• Oversee secure storage of trial medication in accordance with protocol and in monitored environment 
  
• Oversee destruction of returned and unused medication at trial sites 
  

Requirements

• B.Sc or M.Sc in Pharmacy
• Relevant pharmacy & logistics experience gained within a pharmaceutical company, academic research organisation, hospital etc
• General understanding of clinical trials
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  
• Flexible approach to working
  
• Highly motivated with the ability to take initiative and meet deadlines
  
• Willingness to work within a multi-disciplinary, international team
